Agenda: NAME PLACARDS ON TOP OF YOUR DESK
1. Evaluate summer paragraph for explicit details rhetorical analysis
Topic sentence
a. Authorizing of text/author/context
b.Naming of rhetorical device (circle)
c. Reference to purpose- (underline in red)
d. Explanation of intention (underline in green)
Analysis
a. What quote parts did they talk about after the quote?
b. Red Underline where they discussed purpose of author and
details to underscore them
c. Underline in green where they discuss author intention framed
for audience (where do they want them to move to?)


2. Practice writing rhetorical analysis topic sentences (using
authorization) and elaboration moving beyond illustration and
into expanding via tone/language analysis -using the Declaration
of Independence (Pg. 635-38 in BTTL) 10 min timed. (paragraphs
1 & 2)
3. If we have time- write analysis (thinking about any narrative
techniques, or definition/analogy{and there may not be any} using
Lou Gehrig’s farewell speech.

Homework:
TS/ Analysis for both Lou Gehrig and Dec. of Ind.
Read “Thanks for the Feedback” 23-28- Relationship/Identity
triggers. We will discuss both of these on Wednesday.
